Inside from Vitória
Latest news from Junior: Hansen is out of the semis.
Magnus Holmberg & Co i Vitória, Brazil.
Hi Arne,
No wonder that I sent you 3 e-mails today. After 2 days of postponements due to too windy conditions, the judges decided to enjoy the Friday and we have had almost 12 hours of racing. As a result, we started the day at the Round Robin and now we already know the first semifinalist. He happens to be Magus Holmberg (you probably have heard of him before…). Holmberg had lost one single race at the Round Robin, against the Portuguese 470 Olympic sailor Álvaro Marinho. Well, they have met at the quarterfinals and the Swedish had the chance to pay back. And he did it. Holmberg won 3-0 and now waits for the winner of Philippe Presti X Bjorn Hansen.
The day was pretty tiring today. It was the uggliest day so far, with clouds and rain. But the rain at least made the wind smoother, since the 20-25 knots of the first two days obligated to a series of postponements. Vitoria (520 km north of Rio de Janeiro) is famous for its windy conditions. Actually, the sunny days and that wind would make a very nice scenario for a lot of races, but not for the close battles of match racing.
The races will start very early this saturday (7h30 local time, wich is Stockholm minus 2), because the judges are still worried about strong winds.

Thank you, Junior, you are my favorite.
